Life has been crazy, but I’m now a licensed social worker

I know most of my posts aren’t really about my life, but these past few years have been kind of crazy. Things are settling down but I thrive in the chaos.

Life was crazy for a few years, now it’s settling.

When I was younger, I tried to get to the point of going back to school. I could never decide what I wanted to study. I just wanted out of retail.

I considered going to a local real estate school, I went to beauty school (and am a licensed skin therapist), I took online courses in everything from life coaching to meditation and yoga instruction, astrology and finally decided that I would go back when my youngest started school full time and I could focus on finding something.

When she was going into Kindergarten, I found that the college I started attending at 18 had opened their social work program to online so I was able to get into the program and when she started Kindergarten, I started working on my bachelors.

I had to do a semester of field placement and finally graduated with my BSW back in December. Two months later, I was hired on in a different department and have been working there since February.

Besides a full 15 hour course load, I have been working part time and have been volunteering at my kids’ schools/ taking them to sports/Girl Scouts/etc.

It took me a little while, but I passed my state board in June and am officially an LSW. I currently have chickpeas cooking to make hummus tomorrow and I made some granola. I miss having the time to make the stuff I buy processed.

I finally have a job that comes with health insurance and was able to get my first real check up in years. I have had blood sugar problems since I was a teenager, so I had my sugar checked. I found out my A1C is raised and wore a libre for only a week and found out my crashes were so much worse than I thought. I was told Reactive Hypoglycemia years ago. Now I’m working on trying to navigate Pre-Diabetes by making some changes that I already do a lot. Since cutting gluten about 8 years ago, I eat less bread.

Since I do a lot of cooking, craft and life type of posts, I’ll be posting as I find new recipes and find other changes that are made. I also do occasional posts dealing with health problems I have dealt with (or had kids/pets/personal people in my life deal with).

I kind of knew the Diabetes thing was going to happen and right now, I can still stop it (if it’s lifestyle or weight but my sugar started when I was a very active and not overweight teenager so I always felt like a time bomb.)
