Beginner Guide- Gluten Free Checklist

This is going to be ongoing

I am looking up major brands and listing what should be safe for the gluten free diet.

First things first, any fresh and plain fruits and vegetables are naturally gluten free. When you’re browsing the produce section, you will have lots of options. Some examples
Watermelon
C antelope
Bananas
Kiwi
Mango
Oranges
Grapefruit
Clementines
Strawberries
Raspberries
Blackberries
Blueberries
Apples of all varieties
Pears
Plums
Apricots
Pineapple
Dragon fruit
Pomegranate

Asparagus
Lettuce (all varieties)
Spinach
Cucumber
Celery
Tomatoes

Most meats are safe

Steak
Beef
Hamburger
Chicken
Turkey
Veal
Fish
Pork
Look out when you’re buying foods like bacon or sausage and make sure they don’t have any seasonings or other flavorings that contain gluten

Nuts and seeds are safe but once again, make sure there aren’t any additives that contain gluten

Many processed foods that are made without gluten are labeled gluten free. The primary places you will find gluten are wheat products. Remember, gluten is in wheat, rye and barley. You can also buy gluten in the baking aisle.

The best bet is to look for the specific “gluten free” label when you’re shopping for processed foods. I personally have found that the label “may contain traces of gluten” or “processed in a facility that also processes gluten containing products” should be listened to. It depends on the severity of the symptoms and reasoning why you’re following a gluten free diet.
